Geographical Issue
There are many environmental issues that have affected all of Central Africa. But there are three main issues: Deforestation, Desertification, and Poaching. They effect and still do affect Central Africa in different ways. Deforestation for example, not only does it affect many other places, but it has a large affect on Central Africa. During the process of deforestation as most of us know, trees are cut down, and lands are also destroyed for other processes and deeds too be done. In this situation the land of Central Africa was being destroyed without planting new seeds for new growth.
Leading off in affect of the deforestation of forests’ and lands’ in Central Africa soon was desertification. This is the process when desert like conditions arid areas spread throughout an area. This process is caused due to over-grazing, loss of agriculturally productive soil, and climate change. Over-grazing is, when the land is ‘over populated’ with graze and crops that the land becomes a somewhat form of weak and the soil begins to erode. This causes many issues for the people living in Central Africa, because if they don’t have the soil they need to plant crops, they are not going to have any crops for themselves or for trade. Over-grazing is what leads to the loss of productive soil. Climate change in Central Africa is referring to the climate getting hotter and dryer more like a desert area. Climate change is the main factor in desertification.
The last main issue that is affecting the geography of Central Africa is, poaching. Poaching is the process of illegally killing animals and/or fish. Poaching threatens Central Africa’s to decrease largely in population of its animals for food and for work. The Central African people not only used the animals for meals to eat, but also for work. For example elephants, they help carry heavy and large objects to farther places in less time, and it make the job easier for humans. If the amount of people that are poaching increases it will lead to many animal species becoming threatened and endangered. Poaching (if continued) will ruin the view of the country from other people’s point of views. Central Africa is seen as one of the last great wildlife refuges, but it won’t be continuing that trend if poaching keeps up at the pace it is going. Poaching not only is and will keep affecting Central Africa’s geography but also it affects its people living in the area.
